The Indian Air Force (IAF) has published the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) 2/2024 notification for the recruitment of Commissioned Officers in Flying and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) Branches. The AFCAT 2 2024 Notification is released and the online application form registration is available from 30 May to 28 June 2024.
The AFCAT 2 2024 Notification PDF provided here has been released on 30 May 2024 for the recruitment of 304 officers in the Indian Air Force through the AFCAT Recruitment Test 2024.
AFCAT full form is the Air Force Common Admission Test. The AFCAT is conducted by the Indian Air Force and there are two types of services under it – Flying Branch and Non-Technical Ground Duty. AFCAT is also accompanied by the Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT). Candidates planning to appear for Ground Duty (Technical) branches are required to appear in both AFCAT and EKT.

Eligibility Criteria:- AFCAT 2 2024

(a) Nationality: Candidate must be a citizen of India.
(b) Age: (i) Flying Branch through AFCAT and NCC Special Entry: 20 to 24 years as on 01 July 2025 i.e. born between 02 July 2001 to 01 July 2005 (both dates inclusive). Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable upto 26 years i.e. born between 02 July 1999 to 01 July 2005 (both dates inclusive).
(ii) Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) Branch: 20 to 26 years as on 01 July 2025 i.e. born between 02 July 1999 to 01 July 2005 (both dates inclusive).
(c) Marital Status: Candidates below 25 years of age must be unmarried at the time of commencement of course. Widows/Widowers and divorcees (with or without encumbrances) below 25 years of age are also not eligible.
Selection Process
The NCC Special Entry Candidates are exempted from the written test. They will be directly called for the AFSB. The selection process for AFCAT 2 2024 includes the following stages:
- Stage-1: Written Exam
- Stage-2: Air Force Selection Board (AFSB)
- Stage-3: Final Merit List
Exam Pattern:
The subjects, the time allowed and the maximum marks allotted to each subject will be as follows
Exam Dates:
Online AFCAT examination will be conducted on 09 August 2024, 10 August 2024 and 11 August 2024. The AFCAT will be conducted in three days as per the following schedule
Syllabus:
(a) English: Comprehension, Error Detection, Sentence Completion/ Filling in of correct word, Synonyms, Antonyms and Testing of Vocabulary, Idioms and Phrases, Close test, Analogy, sentence rearranging, one word substitution.
(b) General Awareness: History, Geography, Civics, Politics, Current Affairs, Environment, Economy, Environment & Ecology, Basic Science, Defence, Art, Culture, Sports, Personalities etc.
(c) Numerical Ability: Decimal Fraction, Time and Work, Average, Profit & Loss, Percentage, Ratio & Proportion and Simple Interest, Time & Distance (Trains/Boats & Streams), Area and Perimeter, Probability, Number System & Number Series, Mixture & Allegation Rules, Clocks.
(d) Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test: Verbal Skills and Spatial Ability.
